To Tony Hall, Director General of the BBC,
The BBC is currently promoting an interview, in which white women are described as “Karens” and told:
- “educate” themselves,
- “not to be defensive about your whiteness”,
- “don’t be so loud”,
- “get out of the way”, and
- “basically, leave.”
We believe that approaching the important issue of race relations in this biased and simplistic way is irresponsible, counterproductive, and divisive.
We call on you to get the BBC to:
- apologise for presenting such biased & divisive material as impartial
- stop promoting this particular interview
- make amends by recording & promoting further interviews that address the issue in a more balanced, sensitive, and non-divisive manner.
